DATA WE COLLECT
A. Information you give us
- Name, email address, phone number (comment forms, contact form, newsletter sign-up, complaint submission).
- Any documents you upload (screenshots, broker statements) via the “Report a Scam” form.
B. Information we collect automatically
- IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system.
- Pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth (Google Analytics 4, GA4).
- Referring website, search terms (server logs).
- Cookie identifiers, advertising IDs (Google AdSense, optional).
C. Information from third parties
- Google, if you log in via Google OAuth (only avatar + email).
- Payment processor (Stripe/PayPal) if you donate: transaction ID, last-4 digits, country. We do not store card numbers.
LEGAL BASES (GDPR)
- Consent: newsletter, non-essential cookies, push notifications.
- Legitimate interests: fraud detection, site security, analytics to improve content (you may object, see §10).
- Contract: answering your support ticket.
- Legal obligation: tax/accounting records, court orders.

COOKIES & TRACKERS
Essential: wordpress_sec, PHPSESSID – required for login & spam protection.
Functional: cookie_notice_accepted – remembers your consent choice.
Analytics: _ga, _gid – first-party, anonymised.
Marketing: _gcl_au, IDE (Google AdSense) – only set after you click “Accept” on the cookie banner.
You can revoke, block, or delete cookies at any time via the floating “🍪” icon or your browser settings. See the full Cookie Table in Appendix A.
SHARING & INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
We never sell personal data. Recipients include:
- Google (Analytics, AdSense) – Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Cloudflare CDN – worldwide edge servers, GDPR Data Processing Addendum.
- Email services (SendGrid, Mailchimp) – servers in the US, SCCs.
- Payment processors – regulated financial institutions.

- Access – receive a copy of the data we hold.
- Rectification – correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure – “right to be forgotten” (we keep only minimum statutory records).
- Restrict processing – pause data usage.
- Data portability – export in machine-readable CSV.
- Object – stop processing for direct marketing or legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent – instant opt-out link in every email.
- Do-not-sell/share – we do not sell data; you can still toggle ad-personalisation in cookie settings.

SECURITY
- HTTPS/TLS 1.3 encryption site-wide (A+ SSL Labs rating).
- Database encrypted at rest (AES-256).
- Daily off-site backups, 7-day retention.
- Web Application Firewall + rate-limiting (Cloudflare).
- Staff access follows least-privilege principle; 2FA enabled.
CHILDREN
This site is for users aged 18+. If we discover personal data from anyone under 18, it will be deleted within 24 hours.
OPT-OUT & SETTINGS
- Cookie banner: “Accept / Reject / Settings” – granular per purpose.
- Ads personalisation: toggle off to receive non-personalised ads.
- Analytics: use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or enable “Do Not Track” – we respect DNT signals.
CHANGES
Material changes to this Privacy Policy will be announced via banner and dated at the top. Continued use of our site constitutes acceptance of the updated version.
